AN IN THE
MAKING

We follow the pace of the artisans, not the fashion industry.

Our artisans' years of experience is reflected in the pace that they work, which cannot be rushed. They are not obligated to meet the deadlines of the fashion industry, neither does Ana Nevi.

We offer products that are each one of a kind.

Most of our products have distinctive arts and crafts that require hand work which makes them all different from one another. Even though we are dedicated to match the quality standards, they will all have certain details and features that vary and make them unique.

MATERIALS

Almost all the wadding used in our hand and machine-quilted pieces for our clothing and accessories are made with a blend of cotton and corn wadding. Since we aim at transforming production remnants into new products, we periodically create small batch productions using leftover materials, including synthetics, from sampling. Apart from our cotton pieces, currently we use polyester satin to offer a cruelty-free range to our customers. We use materials like polyester to ensure the durability of our quilting and beadwork products as cotton threads tend to tear immediately.

ABOUT US

ARTISANAL CRAFTS ANA NEVI WORKS WITH

HANDMADE TRADITIONAL QUILTING TECHNIQUE

Our quilted pieces draw inspiration from Turkey's handmade quilted blankets. We designed them in wearable forms to convey the craftsmanship's beauty onto clothing and accessories.

Before beginning our design process, we connected with quilters from various cities in Turkey who devoted their lives to creating motifs inspired by their region's customs and traditions. We began production within the narrative of our first collection using the motifs we collected from them and the production techniques we learned. These products are entirely handmade.

MULTI-HEAD QUILTING TECHNIQUE

Subsequently, we found quilters and who utilize multi-head quilting machines to reproduce the motifs of handmade satin quilts on fabric. We decided that using this technique would allow us to reach a broader audience. Therefore, we categorized our collections into handmade and machine-made quilted motifs.

MULTI-HEAD EMBROIDERY PROCESS

In our approach to products where we refrain from solely relying on hand or machine quilting techniques, we have initiated the integration of hand-quilted components into the body using embroidery techniques. These pieces are incorporated into the products before any manual work is executed, later undergoing processing by quilt makers.

PRISONER BEADWORKS

Dedicated to honouring the revered art, Ana Nevi collaborates with incarcerated individuals to create its one-of-a-kind pieces as many of them use crocheting as a means of income.

The story of bead crochet is a rich tradition of textile crafts in the Ottoman Empire. Turkish soldiers incarcerated in British prison camps in the Middle East during and immediately after WW1 created a variety of beadwork items to alleviate the monotony of their prolonged imprisonment and to trade or sell for necessities. This tradition, which originated in prisons, continues to this day as a source of income for prisoners.

It is not a craft that involves monthly wages. During restock periods, we collaborate with artisans we can communicate with, who are within accessibility.
